These classes teach children grades K-8 not enrolled in a Catholic School more about their faith. They also prepare students in need of First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.

Order of Christian Initiation for Adults

OCIA

These classes start each Fall and conclude at the Easter Vigil. They are open to anyone High School or older who is interested in becoming Catholic or never finished the Catholic Sacraments of Initiation- Eucharist or Confirmation.

2025-26 Syllabus

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

Volunteers facilitate an age-appropriate Liturgy of the Word for children in grades K-3. On Sundays during 11:00 am mass, children are invited to the front of the church, blessed, and escorted to a classroom. Volunteers must have “Protecting God’s Children” certification, background check, and fingerprinting. Lesson plans are provided.


Time commitment:  1 hr/wk, 30-minute prep, 30 minutes with children on Sunday during mass

Centering Prayer Ministry

Open to everyone, this group meets weekly on Thursdays
at St. Josephine Bakhita Church, gathering in the large classroom area shortly after the 5 pm Mass, typically around 5:30 pm. It's a welcoming space for community connection and discussion.


Time commitment: 45 minutes to one hour.

Paulist Associates

The Paulist Associates are a faith-filled community committed to supporting the Paulist Fathers’ mission of unity, reconciliation, evangelization, and ecumenism. Members promise to live this mission in their personal lives and with each other. As an auxiliary ministry to St. Josephine Bakhita, we help strengthen parish life, supporting its ministries and fostering a welcoming, spiritually enriching community.

Rosary Prayer

Volunteers sign up to lead the rosary. The rosary is recited 30 minutes prior to certain masses in May & October, including weekday and weekend masses. A leader's guide is provided.


Time commitment: 30 minutes per Rosary led.

Sunday Scripture Preview

Open to all, this group reads the upcoming Sunday readings. After reading each of the three scripture passages, participants engage in reflection and discussion.


Time commitment: 90 minutes on Tuesdays following 8:30 a.m. mass.
